She fled the Ukraine war from Odessa to Munich.

Since then, Natalia Aleksieieva has been telling about her new life in her column.

My first month in Munich and the 47th day of the war in Ukraine.

This time brought much sadness and joy.

In my soul, emotions that seem so disparate coexist in a strange way: fear, compassion, excitement, gratitude, and a huge range of different feelings and experiences.

Part of me lives every day with my family on the phone with air-raid alerts, missile warnings in my hometown, lives with the refugees of Munich who are filled with uncertainty and fear.

Fled from Ukraine: "I have never seen the dead so close and in such terrible conditions"

The second part of me is happy about the beauty of Munich and the warmth of its residents.

So far I have written that my city of Odessa is relatively quiet.

But this week the enemy went on the offensive.

Rocket impacts damaged the Odessa oil refinery and storage facility.

Luckily nobody died.

In the morning my aunt called my parents and said that her company, which was engaged in customs clearance of petroleum products, was on fire.

Now she is unemployed.

Ukraine war: "I thought there was a red line"

Telegram channels are filled with videos of the execution of civilians, films of corpses scattered on the streets of towns and villages where the fiercest fighting took place.

I have never seen the dead so close and in such horrific conditions.

Dead bodies littered the streets for weeks, some with their hands tied.

It always seemed to me that each of us has red lines that no one will ever cross.

Mass killings of children, old people, rape of girls and women in front of their own children, tank transports of those who have already been killed.

If all of these things aren't red lines for us, then what are?

Can't this madness be stopped?

Help for refugees from Ukraine: "Feeling of gratitude towards Munich"

At the same time, I should have the desire to live and work, to help the Ukrainians in Munich as much as possible and to enjoy every day that I live - no matter what.

In fact, every day I am overwhelmed by a feeling of gratitude to Munich for adopting me.

I meet so many nice, personable, decent and caring people that tears come to my eyes at times and it seems like there just isn't enough room in my heart for all these warm feelings.

I recently published an article about Olena Tisova, a 29-year-old woman who devotes all her free time to house-hunting for Ukrainian refugees.

I was lucky enough to meet and do an interview with her, she is an enthusiast and has already managed to help so many people.

She is just one wonderful person of many I have met this month.

In fact, there are so many of them: my employers and colleagues in the office, employees of various city services, volunteers, the owners of the apartment I get to live in... All these people are rays of hope, hope for salvation and a great support for us Ukrainians.
