Miesbach – The Miesbach secondary school and Telair, the provider of air freight systems, have concluded an IHK educational partnership.

What do I want to be?

Although graduation is slowly approaching, many young people cannot yet answer this question for themselves.

Direct contact with companies and an insight into the reality of work can provide the decisive impetus for many.

It is practical when school and business find each other directly.

This recently happened in Miesbach, where the local middle school and the provider of air freight systems Telair contractually agreed on the educational partnership under the patronage of the IHK for Munich and Upper Bavaria.

"A win-win situation," says Jens Wucherpfennig, head of the IHK office in Rosenheim, because the company can introduce itself directly to schoolchildren.

These, in turn, learn first-hand what is expected of them later, and the school can adapt its teaching accordingly.

Telair hopes for interested students

As part of the educational partnership between Miesbacher Mittelschule and Telair, for example, regular company tours are planned for eighth through tenth graders.

"During the tour, we want to introduce the young people to our commercial and technical training occupations, such as industrial mechanics, and show them in which areas of the company trainees or colleagues with this qualification work and what tasks they take on," explains Christine Schirmer, Head of Human Resources at Telair.

"We also hope to win over interested students for school internships in this way." It is also planned that Telair trainees will regularly hold technical classes at the middle school during the school year.

Application training is also to be offered there, supported by the HR department.

Rector Birgit Ostermeier reports that many students often have vague ideas about their professional future.

"Together with Telair, we can offer our students a lively and practical career orientation.

This is a perfect complement to the lesson.

We are pleased to have won over one of the major employers in the district.

Our goal is for every student to find the right dream job and start their professional life with joy.” Another goal is to give the students an insight into a wide range of apprenticeships.

Campaigner for IHK education partnership

"We are pleased that with Telair and the Miesbach middle school we have gained two new comrades-in-arms from the district for our IHK educational partnerships," says IHK branch manager Jens Wucherpfennig.

“The aim of the partnerships between training companies and schools is to inform students about local vocational training opportunities and to give them practical insights into as many training occupations as possible.”

In this way, companies can present themselves as training companies and come into contact with potential trainees.

"Of course we hope that the Miesbach example will set a precedent and that many other partnerships will follow in the Miesbach district in the course of this year," says Wucherpfennig.

IHK Rosenheim supported

In the first step of the educational partnership, the IHK establishes contact between interested schools and companies.

Especially at the beginning, she advises on the implementation of the partnership in everyday school and company life.

The possibilities of a practical career orientation range from career information evenings, company tours and internships to hands-on offers in the companies to teacher internships.
