The results of the first round of the presidential election are now almost final, with the qualifications of Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen for the second round set for April 24.

Arriving at the top, the Head of State is ahead, with more than 27.6% of the vote, the boss of the RN (23.41%), according to the overall results (excluding French people from abroad) from the Ministry of Interior.

With our map below, we invite you to visualize the names of the candidates who came first in the municipalities of mainland France.

As we can see quite clearly, the outgoing president, who came first in nearly 12,000 municipalities at the end of the first round, is carrying out a real hold-up in the west of France... and in the west of France's Island.

Everywhere, except in Occitania, it takes one out of four ballots, and its score in rural areas is better than in 2017.

Behind, Marine Le Pen, in the lead in 20,000 municipalities, won over voters in a large part of northern France, in Hauts-de-France, in the Grand Est and in Burgundy.

It is also filling up on the Mediterranean rim.

Strong in rural areas, it is struggling in large cities.

And if there is one who is not struggling in the big cities, it is Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who took 31% of the votes in cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.

Very strong in Ile-de-France, it also has its best scores in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Occitanie, where it has completely siphoned off the socialist electorate.

The rebellious leader is also acclaimed overseas.

No need to look for light blue and pink, the PS and Les Républicains have almost disappeared from the map.
