Many have already booked their summer vacation for 2022, others are planning at short notice due to the corona pandemic.
But what are the top travel destinations this year?
Uncertainty about vacation trips is declining among Germans: More than half (57 percent) are certain they will be going on a trip this year, as the Foundation for Future Questions found in a survey, the results of which were presented in mid-February.
That is around 27 percent more than 12 months before.
One in five was still undecided and just as many are not planning a vacation at all.
But where are those who have booked a holiday early on headed?

Destinations for the summer of 2022: This is where the Germans end up
Holiday home fans have one travel destination in mind again this year:
Germany
.
Compared to the previous year (55.73 percent), interest here has fallen to 32.55 percent.
That means: Germans are more daring to go abroad again, and here
Croatia
is furthest ahead with 16.37 percent.
Italy
follows closely behind
with 14.95 percent of searches, while
France
is a little behind with 6.28 percent.
The search periods from January 1st to February 24th in 2021 and 2022 were compared for the main travel season from early July to mid-September.

According to search queries, the top travel destinations in Germany are the
Baltic Sea
and North Sea
.
In Spain, the Balearic Islands are particularly sought after and in Italy the region around Lake Garda and Tuscany.
In Croatia, the Istria region is particularly popular.
