In some places it can also be smooth, as the DWD announced on Saturday.

In the south and in the Alps, the meteorologists are expecting 10 to 15 centimeters of fresh snow by Sunday morning and up to 20 centimeters in the northwestern areas.

However, snow could also fall in northern Franconia and in the eastern low mountain ranges.

Update from April 9, 11:10 a.m .:

The sometimes severe onset of winter in Bavaria is not without consequences: heavy snowfall caused power outages in numerous towns in the Miltenberg district in Lower Franconia.

There were several road closures.

On Saturday morning, 15 towns and around 7,500 people were still without electricity, said District Administrator Jens Marco Scherf.

It could sometimes take until the afternoon before the power supply is completely restored.

Onset of winter in Bavaria: 7,500 people without electricity - several road closures

According to the district administrator, the road closures were invariably caused by fallen trees.

Not only the amount, but also the type of snow was problematic.

Scherf: "It was extremely wet and heavy snow, which pushed down many trees."

Scherf warned against removing roadblocks by hand.

It had happened several times during the morning that the barriers had simply been pushed aside.

The district administrator warned that this was "dangerous and selfish" because you not only endanger yourself, but also following drivers.
