The driver of the other car fled after the crash Sunday night without helping the woman, police said.
With a large contingent, the officers searched for the man during the night and arrested him on Monday morning.
According to initial findings, the man (32) is said to have collided with the woman's oncoming car when overtaking in the area of a construction site.
The woman suffered serious injuries from the collision, which she succumbed to at the scene of the accident.
