Nearly 30% of companies established in the department are formulating hiring projects in 2022, according to the annual survey by Pôle emplo

A "decision-making tool", "unprecedented insight" or more simply a solid trend: the survey published for twenty years by Pôle emploi, in collaboration with the Research Center for the Study and Observatory of living conditions (Crédoc) looks each year at the recruitment intentions of companies in the Paris Basin, but also their difficulties in finding candidates.

What experts call “labour requirements”.

With 57,430 hiring projects (i.e. 10.8% of all projects in the region), Seine-Saint-Denis is in 2022 the third department of Ile-de-France, behind the Hauts-de-Seine (85,555) and Paris (160,904), which together account for almost half of employers' forecasts.

They are 28.8% of the establishments established in the 93 to formulate the idea of recruiting, a slight increase of 2.6 points compared to 2021.

“Volumes that we had never seen before”, confirms Guillaume Koning, territorial director of Pôle emploi in Seine-Saint-Denis, even if the future economic consequences of the war in Ukraine are not yet known. .

“The weekly offers at the moment have not gone down,” he notes nevertheless.

Big demand in entertainment and maintenance jobs

Among the twelve professions where the expectations are the strongest within the companies of the department, stand out those of security and surveillance agents, private investigators and similar.

A sector where the number of permanent contract offers (2,781 potential offers out of the 2,828) is also the highest.

But the category at the top of hiring intentions (5,640) concerns that of artists and art teachers (music, dance, shows) but 77% in seasonal jobs.

“The show offers a large volume of recruitment in Seine-Saint-Denis, a phenomenon that is encountered relatively little in Ile-de-France, except in Paris, confirms the territorial director of Pôle emploi.

The proximity to the capital, the good public transport service and the Plaine-Saint-Denis studios mean that there are job opportunities.

A big demand is also announced for the professions of maintenance agents including Atsem in kindergarten, but also delivery people, unskilled workers of the second work of the building and versatile employees in the kitchen.

Nurses, engineers, finishing workers: hard-to-find candidates

On the downside, the share of recruitment projects deemed difficult in the department is estimated at 42.5% in 2022, i.e. 10.1 points more than in 2021, with a greater increase than that observed at the regional level.

Regarding engineers and IT project managers, employers consider that 76.2% of their vacancies (871) will be difficult to fill.

And unsurprisingly, and even if this is not the category for which establishments have expressed the greatest intention to open positions, 75.9% of recruitment projects for nurses and childcare workers are presented as difficult.

Interesting element that emerges from the Pôle emploi survey in Seine-Saint-Denis: the shortage of candidates affects some of the professions where the planned recruitments are precisely the most important.

Example for the security professions, where companies estimate that 63.4% of their recruitment projects will be complicated to satisfy.

For finishing workers (1,549 provisional proposals), this rate rises to 69%.

Develop training on sectors in tension

"The difficulties are linked to professions that do not attract and suffer from a lack of image", underlines the territorial director.

Pôle emploi is working precisely to discover these professions awaiting candidates, in particular in the security sector, where training will be offered to the unemployed.

The survey, which provides guidance, received responses from 5,776 establishments for Seine-Saint-Denis, representing a return rate of 18%.

“A phenomenally good score!” exclaimed Guillaume Koning.

When you send questionnaires to so many companies, when everything is going well, a very good return rate reaches 5%!

The 18% illustrates the fact that companies feel concerned by recruitment needs and difficulties.

It is also a guarantee of credibility: the companies have confidence, give figures and know that behind, we use this information to direct the training budgets devoted to sectors in tension.

The overall envelope dedicated to the training of job seekers in Ile-de-France amounts to 218 million euros with 78 million coming from the region, within the framework of the Regional Program for Investment in Skills (Pric ) and 140 million, from Pôle emploi.
