Proceeding from the importance of integrating children with disabilities with their peers at all levels of education, the Research Department in the Directorate of Education in Homs Governorate carried out an artistic celebration at Al-Zahrawi Theater entitled (Inclusion is Our Choice), with the participation of more than 50 male and female students from inclusion schools in various educational levels.
The celebration included musical pieces on the keyboard and violin, poems by Ahmed Shawky about the teacher, an artistic dance and a theatrical performance by the teachers of the resources entitled (Integration is Our Choice), in which they addressed how to create an inclusive school and accept the community for people with disabilities, in addition to the opening of an exhibition of drawings and handicrafts for children of integration.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Walid Marai, Director of Homs Education, pointed out the importance of this celebration, which confirms our belief, as educators and teachers, in the importance of integrating children with disabilities with their peers in schools and their role in life. In turn, the Head of the Special Education Division in the Research Department of the Directorate of Education, Dilal Hilal, indicated that the process of integrating people with disabilities with their peers in general education began in the year 2002-2003, and it was one of the most important educational experiences in schools to follow up, noting that the number of integration students in all grades of kindergarten Up to the secondary level, there are 571 male and female students.
For her part, resource teacher Lara Al-Assaad pointed out that the process of inclusion in schools has changed the society's view of people with disabilities, pointing to the special care that resource teachers have in schools after they took over the task of these children from different audio-visual cases, autism and hyperactivity.
