A large number of demonstrators surrounded the Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station on August 11, 2019. Many people were arrested for rioting. Nine of them were convicted of rioting after interrogation. The assistant engineer was sentenced today (12th).

Defendant Kwok Ka-fai (23 years old, assistant engineer) was convicted earlier of one count of rioting along with 8 other defendants, alleging that on August 11, 2019, they were arrested at Nathan Road between Austin Road and Camfrey Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dao participated in the riots.
Riots challenge police enforcement
Judge You Dekang sentenced the rioters to besieged and attacked the police station on the day of the incident, exceeding the boundaries of expressing their demands, directly challenging the police's law enforcement, and indirectly challenging the rule of law. The remaining eight defendants: female student Liu Weiying (21 years old), student Zhang Wenjun (19 years old), female student Liang Zhuohua (22 years old), deliveryman Huang Yiwei (22 years old), tutoring agency operator and teacher Wu Shaoqin (31 years old), Teacher Wei Tingting (27 years old), cable TV sports host Zhuo Lixin (25 years old) and housewife Pan Huiwen (43 years old) were also convicted of rioting. Five of them were sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Liang Zhuohua, Huang Yiwei and Zhuo Lixin and others were sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison.
