Defense system confirms: PA pays benefits to hundreds of families of Arab-Israeli terrorists | Israel Today

2022-04-12T10:17:05.550Z

Security officials confirmed that the funds were transferred regardless of the terrorists' organizational affiliation.

Every month, the Palestinian Authority transfers thousands of shekels in support to hundreds of Israeli families who took part in terrorist acts, according to an inspection by the defense establishment conducted at the request of "Israel Today."

The recipients of the support benefits are Israelis who are serving a prison sentence for committing or assisted in a terrorist act, or have acted in another way against Israel.

In the event that those Israelis are found dead in the act of terrorism, the payments are passed on to their families.

The scope of the payment ranges from NIS 1,400 to NIS 12,000, depending on the type of operation, the scope of those killed in it and the number of years the Israeli terrorist was sentenced.

Beyond the allowance itself, there are additional supplements and benefits for the inmate and family members.

"As mentioned, the number of Israeli citizens receiving a payment from the PA stands at hundreds of eligible people and the amount of the payment amounts to tens of millions of shekels a year, which are regularly paid to eligible people and their families." For life.

Payments are made in accordance with the Palestinian Authority's open tariff for terrorists living in Judea and Samaria, and are completely identical to it. They continue even after the terrorist is released from prison, according to PA rules.

The defense establishment confirmed that the PA pays terrorism allowances to all terrorists regardless of their organizational affiliation, meaning that those who were members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad also receive a support allowance from the Palestinian Authority, which is run by Fatah.

"Exact number of eligible persons unknown"

The defense establishment is aware that receiving an economic support allowance for a terrorist act, a foreign political entity, is legally problematic and constitutes a significant catalyst for the promotion of terrorist acts.

However, the law also confers economic secrecy on civilians and therefore the GSS and security organizations use intelligence tools to find out who the Israelis who benefit from Palestinian terrorist allowances are. Delivered from the Ministry of Defense.

A security source told "Israel Today" that many quiet actions are being taken to digest the funds and confiscate them.

In addition, the amount is deducted from the tax money transferred to the Palestinian Authority.

He admitted, however, that "we know only what we know, and do not know what we do not know."

"The exact figure is unknown."

It should be noted that in recent years the Palestinian Authority has been under heavy pressure from the international community to stop paying terrorism salaries.

The US Congress approved with bipartisan support the "Taylor Force Law", which prohibits economic support for the PA as long as payments continue.

In response to these pressures, the Palestinians have tried to take a number of exercises to continue payments in bypass roads.

They transferred the system of payments from the PA to the PLO and also tried to recruit relatives of terrorists to work in the PA. And enjoy the support of Israel's Social Security.

Meanwhile, government officials in Israel told Israel Today that Abu Mazen recently pledged to the Americans that the families of the terrorists who participated in the latest wave of terrorism would not benefit from the terrorist allowances.

The US embassy responded: "We are not responding to what was said in private conversations."

State Comptroller: "The government does not deduct money from the PA"

Meanwhile, State Comptroller Netanyahu Engelman today referred to the government's activities against the terrorists.

In a lecture at the Faculty of Law of the College of Management, the comptroller said that the government does not use the tools to offset funds from the PA.

"There is one simple and effective tool that the State of Israel does not use in the fight against terrorism: filing civil lawsuits against terrorists, whether they are residents of the State of Israel or Palestinians," the comptroller said.

"In that case, it can be done by offsetting funds from the Palestinian Authority."
