The volunteer fire brigade Ebersberg is preparing for a big anniversary.
In May she celebrates her 150th birthday.
On offer are a ceremony, a blue light mile and very special city tours.
Ebersberg
- "It shouldn't be a conventional festival, as one might have expected from the fire brigade," says CEO Andreas Reischl, "with a marquee, lots of beer and party music".
No, the Ebersberg fire department is celebrating its 150th anniversary in a different setting.
Commander Christoph Münch and Andreas Reischl, as head of the festival committee, have been planning the program for three years.
150 years of Ebersberg fire brigade: ceremony with invited guests
The highlight is a big ceremony with invited guests on Saturday, May 7, in the Alter Spicher, which is preceded by a church service and a procession.
Two weeks later, on May 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a "blue light mile" is on the program from the ramp at the Klosterbauhof via the Altstadtpassage to Marienplatz.
The fire brigade will present their vehicles along the mile and demonstrate their capabilities at numerous demonstrations.
In addition, there will be an exhibition in around 20 Ebersberg shops from the beginning of May to the end of September - something like "like the Krippenweg", say Münch and Reischl.
Items of equipment belonging to the Florian disciples are shown.
And: The offer includes special city tours on the subject of fires and the fire brigade, which were put together in close consultation with the district home caretaker and chief city guide Thomas Warg.
Josef Haggenmiller as founding father.
The Ebersberg fire brigade was founded on May 5, 1872 in the Oberwirt hall.
The driving force behind this was the then mayor of the Ebersberg municipality, Josef Haggenmiller, who recognized the need for a fire brigade.
Well over 100 Ebersberger followed the invitation of their mayor.
Together they launched the volunteer fire brigade.
Joseph Haggenmiller was elected chairman, Johann Strauss, innkeeper from Oberwirt, was elected commander, and David Sarreiter was elected his adjutant.
