The Chinese bottles affair:
The Chinese embassy in Israel today (Tuesday) denied the publication in IDF waves, according to which donated bottles sent to government offices as a gift for Passover contained means of listening. The GSS confirmed that this was an innocent component.
"Following reports of finding a suspicious component in thermal glasses sent to a government ministry - GSS technology experts who examined the component determined that it was an innocent component designed to maintain the vacuum in the sides of the drink glass and maintain temperature over time," the GSS said in a statement.
In an official letter from the embassy's communications department, spokesman Licho wrote that "the media in Israel are spreading rumors that the thermal bottle may be the most suspicious device."
"The baseless rumors have a serious impact because they seek to drive a wedge between China and Israel, tarnish China's image and mislead the public," the letter said.
The Chinese embassy also claimed that the government office, to which the suspect bottle was transferred, contacted the embassy and clarified that they had not issued any official press release on the matter.
