The district's new care base will start work in Penzberg this week.

On Monday the keys were handed over at the parish center Christkönig.

In a few months, the new senior citizens' club will also move into the former rooms of the "Oasis".

A "round thing", with which Penzberg received a figurehead, it was said on Monday.

Penzberg – In future, people in need of care and their relatives will receive advice and support close to home every Wednesday during the consultation hours of the district care base in Penzberg.

The position is borne by the district, the district of Upper Bavaria and the statutory health and nursing care insurance funds.

Penzberg is a branch of the Weilheim and Schongau locations.

It was not clear from the outset that Penzberg would get a nursing base consultation hour

It was not clear from the outset that Penzberg would have at least one outside consultation.

Initially, only Weilheim and Schongau were discussed in the district council, reported Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU).

But he was able to initiate a discussion – with success.

The branch office in Penzberg will now be open every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A start has been made, says Korpan.

According to him, if there is high demand, there is also the possibility of extending the times.

What Peter Steigenberger, head of social services at the district office, confirmed on Monday when the keys were handed over.

Lisa Merlonetti from the senior citizens' department in the district office was also happy.

It was a good solution with the branch office, she said on Monday.

A good solution is also that there is also a senior citizens' meeting place.

"Penzberg is on the right track there."

Seniorentreff is also supposed to move in - but it will still take a few months

As reported, the senior citizens' club is also to move to the former "Oasis" rooms, which the city is renting from the parish of Christ the King.

However, it will take a few months until then.

Both City Hall Managing Director Roman Reis and Caritas Managing Director Thomas Koterba hope that the meeting can start at the beginning of August (from then on the city will be a tenant), but they think September 1st is more realistic.

According to Koterba, this has to do with the funding process.

Last week, the regional steering committee voted unanimously that 47,000 euros should flow from the European Union's Leader program for the senior citizens' club.

Caritas, which will be responsible for the meeting, can now submit an application.

The final decision rests with the Leader approval office in Kempten.

According to Koterba, he is assuming a positive decision, but it could take three to four months until then.

Old “oasis” rooms on Bahnhofstrasse are ideal

According to him, the senior citizens' club should receive a social worker as a 20-hour part-time worker.

The position has yet to be advertised.

According to Koterba, it is conceivable to increase the number of hours in a few years.

In any case, Koterba considers the former “oasis” rooms at the parish center on Bahnhofstrasse to be ideal.

They are barrier-free, in the middle of the city and well known.

"I think it's gigantic how the city and the senior citizens' council pushed this forward."

He described the fact that there will be a meeting place for the elderly and a care base at the site as a "round thing" and a "figurehead".

The senior citizens' advisory board chairman Siegfried Höfler also praised the double function of the rooms on Monday.

We will certainly work well together, he said.

At its meeting this Tuesday afternoon, the Seniors' Advisory Board will discuss, among other things, a name for the meeting.

Mayor Korpan has already made a joking suggestion: "Sigis Treff".
