A far-right Spaniard has planned to assassinate left-wing Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
A court in Madrid has now sentenced the 65-year-old to a long prison term.
Security guard Manuel Murillo has been jailed for seven and a half years.
The state TV broadcaster RTVE and other media reported on the verdict of the National Court of Justice in Madrid.
The 65-year-old right-wing radical was determined to kill left-wing Prime Minister Sanchez.
He told acquaintances and expressed it on the Internet.
He also called for help.
Murillo, who is a skilled marksman, also owned several illegal weapons, including sniper rifles and an assault rifle.
He was arrested in 2018.
The convict wanted to take revenge for the 1975 planned reburial of the dictator Francisco Franco, who had died in 1975, from the huge mausoleum "Valle de los Caídos" north-west of Madrid in a normal grave.
This reburial was completed in 2019 (read more here).
Franco brutally oppressed minorities, had opponents deported, tortured and killed.
He forced thousands of political prisoners to hew a colossal cathedral into the rock for him in the »Valle de los Caídos«.
