The Iraqi Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Salar Abdul Sattar, discussed with the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries and develop brotherly relations to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the issue of Syrian workers in Iraq, adapting their legal status, and the importance of establishing a database in detail on all Syrian workers in Iraq.

The Iraqi Minister of Labor said, "He raised the importance of organizing Syrian labor entering Iraq and discussing this file in future meetings to reach radical solutions."

In turn, Ambassador Al-Dandah confirmed in a statement to SANA’s reporter in Baghdad that the meeting dealt with providing facilities to the Syrian community as they are highly qualified and reducing financial fees on them, pointing to the discussion of working conditions for Syrians and their non-exploitation by employers with wages and working hours.

Ambassador Al-Dandah called for addressing the situation of Syrians violating the residency law and the need to regularize their status and grant them regular residency, and stressed the need to grant entry visas to Syrians from the Iraqi embassy in Damascus or the airport in application of the principle of reciprocity.
