Memmingen - Only two weeks after the delegates' meeting of the Fishermen's Day Association, the board was able to announce last weekend: "The program for the Wallenstein Festival Week is set." In the Maximilian Kolbe House, the relief and euphoria among the approximately 70 invited guests and the association members present were clear to feel.

Fisherman's Day will take place on July 23rd, followed immediately by the Wallenstein Festival Week from July 24th to 31st.

The ability to act quickly after the uncertainties of development during Corona is due to the well-organized structure of the more than 4,000 members.

Chairman Michael Ruppert expressly praised the work of the large organization team.

"It's tingling again when it finally starts!" The challenges for the club were not exactly small: solutions had to be found in a short time for the current price increases and delivery problems.

When it comes to providing the event and camp life with the necessary infrastructure, the association benefits from the fact that it has its own tents and can build on extensively tried and tested experience.

Some changes planned

Much remains the same as in previous years, but some changes have also been made.

The admission prices for the events, small and large stands, had to be set at 25 euros for adults and nine euros for children, standing room costs ten euros and is free for children.

Around three-quarters of the ticket contingent goes into advance ticket sales, which starts on April 22nd.

Unlike in the past, access to camp life and the handicraft markets has been made more family-friendly, namely free of charge.

During the festival week there will again be a "Wallenstein wine", which was presented at the event with specially designed labels: the white wine is a Pinot Gris from Baden and the red wine is a cuvée from southern Tuscany.

The euphoria is palpable

Also new is a folding map for all events and camp life, which, with paths and explanations, leads to the individual locations and scenes like a sightseeing tour.

Thomas Pfaus and his team will accompany the Wallenstein Week with cameras and use it to create a film that will be released in cinemas next year.

He was able to present a first 12-minute compilation at the program presentation.

The work shows the history of the Wallenstein Festival Week since its beginning in 1980. The euphoria of the people of Memmingen for this major project could already be felt in the short presentation.

After all, with 4500 participants, according to the organizers, it is the largest history festival in Europe.

In Thomas Pfaus' film excerpt, many of the "founding fathers" of the Wallenstein Festival have their say, pointing out that this week is not a glorification of the war, but rather serves to unite the citizens of Memmingen.

In the groups of the festival week you meet at eye level,

After a forced two-year break, the original idea of the Wallenstein Week can finally be taken up again, according to Michael Ruppert, namely "bringing people together".
