The Jewish communities in Brooklyn are following with great concern the shooting incident that took place today (Tuesday) on the subway in the neighborhood.
According to what they know at the moment, the target of the shooters was not only Jews, but the vigilance has escalated.
Today, thousands of Chabad followers mark the 120th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and many Chassidim arrived ahead of the event, including from Israel to the 770 building in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Ben Barber, a publicist from the Oboe Hasidism in New York, who lives about 10 minutes from the train station, told Israel Today that: "There is a great deal of confusion here about the incident. The situation is very tense. Currently, the police have closed the entire area. Unfortunately, we are used to such incidents in Israel. Connection to this.
"Of course, in any case, we are concerned about the nature of the event."
Rabbi Elchanan Popko, who travels on the train line every day, told Israel Today that: "Unfortunately, this is a scary but not surprising event. Recently, there has been a significant documented increase of tens of percent in crime in the area. I see people with a number of psychiatric problems every day. I've been using this line for 17 years - I've never been in a situation like this before. I talked to teachers who work in Brooklyn and live in Crown Heights and they have no plans to return home by train today.
He added: "The absurdity is that Eric Adams, who previously served as a New York City police officer, was chosen to be tougher on crime - but unfortunately there seems to be nothing new under the sun and the reason for his election was falsified."
"There seems to be nothing new under the sun and the reason for his choice - was deceived."
