Russian influencers can no longer shop at the French luxury brand Chanel because of the sanctions.

Out of anger, they cut up the brand's handbags.

Moscow/Paris - The war in Ukraine is in full swing and some Russian influencers are now angry - not because of the human rights violations, but because they can no longer buy Chanel bags.

The European Union has imposed several sanctions against Russia because of the Ukraine war*.

Accordingly, according to the EU, no luxury goods with a value of 300 euros or more may be sold, delivered or exported to persons or organizations in Russia or for use in Russia.

In order not to violate the sanctions, the French fashion house Chanel has introduced a procedure in which customers whose main place of residence is not known are asked to confirm that the items they are buying will not be used in Russia.

Sanctions: Russian influencers cut up Chanel handbags

This is apparently causing trouble for some Russian influencers: a few days ago, the Russian model Victoria Bonya published a video on Instagram in which she described the Chanel brand as "disrespectful towards her customers".

She cuts a bag of the luxury brand with a knife.

Bonya's action made waves.

The influencer received almost 90,000 likes and more than 45,000 comments for her video.

Many users mocked Bonya, pointing out the war in Ukraine while ranting about Chanel: "They should respect you?

Maybe you should speak out about the atrocities and war crimes in Ukraine instead of acting like a victim.”

Another user wrote: "Chanel doesn't care what you do with the bag after you've already bought it and given the profits to Chanel.

You're not the brightest!” On the other hand, quite a few, mostly Russian users posted heart emojis under the video to support Bonya.

Ukraine war: users scoff at Russian influencers

Other Russian influencers, such as news anchor Marina Ermoshkina or DJ Katya Guseva, also joined the campaign and cut up their luxury handbags.

Ermoshkina tries very hard and shreds her bag with a pair of large pruning shears.

She says: "I'm against any brand that supports anti-Russian behavior." She doesn't say a word about her country's invasion of Ukraine* either.

Like Bonya, Ermoshkina reaps thousands of likes for the campaign – and a lot of malice: “You destroy the bag you paid for?

Chanel will be desperate.

That's so stupid! ", writes a user.

Another asks: "Tell me how it feels to be so pretty and so stupid at the same time?" *
