Fraudsters contacted numerous citizens in the Fürstenfeldbruck area with shock calls on Monday.

Twice they made booty.

Fürstenfeldbruck – The police registered a total of eleven cases in the Fürstenfeldbruck criminal investigation area in a single day.

Two women from the districts of Fürstenfeldbruck and Landsberg am Lech fell for the scam and lost a five-figure sum of money.

hand over money

According to the police, an unsuspecting 65-year-old woman from Olching was informed by phone around noon that her daughter had caused a fatal traffic accident.

The caller claimed that detention could only be averted by paying bail.

Since the woman believed the wrong police officer and the alleged public prosecutor's office, she handed over five-digit money and jewelry to an alleged messenger, reports the Kripo.

Also on Monday afternoon, a man called a 60-year-old from the Landsberg am Lech district and pretended to be her son.

In the further course of the conversation, the previously unknown perpetrator demanded money for furniture from the injured party.

Since the 60-year-old did not initially notice the fraud either, she transferred a four-digit amount of money to her supposed son, according to the police.

In Dachau, on the other hand, the handover of a five-digit sum of cash was prevented by an attentive bank employee.

An elderly couple wanted to withdraw money to pay bail for their daughter who was involved in a serious accident.

However, the bank employee became suspicious and informed the police after she had informed the two victims about the scam.

Police Tips

As the cases described show, the fraudsters work with a wide variety of stories, some of which are very hair-raising.

The Fürstenfeldbruck criminal police expressly warns of the mesh and gives the following tips:

1) Be suspicious of such calls!

2) The police will never call you on the emergency number 110!

3) If in doubt, end the conversation as quickly as possible without disclosing personal data or information about valuables or cash!

4) Don't respond to requests to transfer or transfer money!

5) The real police will never ask you for cash, wire transfers or anything of value to conduct an investigation!

6) If in doubt, call the police using a telephone number taken from the phone book, in urgent cases also using the emergency number 110 - but do not use the callback button, otherwise you may end up with the scammers again!

7) Never let strangers into your home!

8) Healthy distrust is not discourtesy: Demand officials, such as police officers, for their service ID card!

9) Never give money or valuables to unknown persons!

10) Talk to your relatives about the phenomenon and warn them about the actions of the perpetrators!

11) Check if listing your phone number in public directories is really necessary!
