The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Al-Hasakah Governorate has determined the areas planned to be planted with the cotton crop for the current season at 6754 hectares distributed in various areas of agricultural stability.
The Director of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the area planned for the current season was approved according to the water budget in the various areas of agricultural stability in which farmers depend on surface and ground water to irrigate the crop, in addition to the percentages of real agricultural implementation for farmers during the few seasons. past.
Bilal pointed out that the early farmers started planting the crop, and the pace of cultivation will increase from the middle of this month and continue until the beginning of June, especially among farmers who plant their lands with the barley crop and are waiting for its harvest to start growing cotton.
It is noteworthy that the planned area for cotton cultivation during the last season amounted to 16 thousand hectares, while the implemented area did not exceed 4 thousand hectares.
