After throwing a cup: fine and suspension of fans on probation

After the cup throwing scandal in the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfL Bochum was sentenced to a fine of 100,000 euros and a spectator exclusion on probation.
In the event of further “significant incidents”, the Revierclub has to close part of its stadium for a league home game for spectators.
This was announced by the German Football Association (DFB) on Wednesday.
Bochum – The probationary period runs until June 30, 2023.
The Bundesliga game against Gladbach was canceled on March 18 after assistant referee Christian Gittelmann was hit on the head by a filled cup.
The game was scored for Borussia.
Of the 100,000 euros fine, 33,000 euros can be used for security and violence prevention measures.
VfL also received fines for throwing cups in other games totaling 15,000 euros and several conditions.
For example, the people of Bochum have to develop a concept for introducing a high-resolution video surveillance system and introduce a returnable cup system.
The Bochumers agreed to all judgments.
"Since the Bundesliga club was actively involved in identifying the perpetrators and will also implement improved video surveillance and the reusable cup system to optimize security in the stadium, the DFB control committee had applied to the sports court to suspend the exclusion of spectators on probation," the DFB said in explanation .
VfL had already used additional video technology in the Ruhr Stadium for the last game against Bayer Leverkusen.
