One of the topics at the annual meeting of the Bund Naturschutz Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen was the election of an additional delegate.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The number of 2000 members has been exceeded.

For this reason, the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district group of the Bund Naturschutz (BN) had to elect an additional delegate at their annual meeting.

This task is taken on by treasurer Helmuth Lutz, Beatrice Wagner was elected substitute delegate in her absence.

After the Corona-related break, almost 30 BN members have now gathered again in presence in the small Kursaal in Bad Tölz.

Too many tourists: big rush during the pandemic

Too many tourists and fewer amphibians - these are the issues that primarily concern the district group, reported the chairman Friedl Krönauer in his report.

"What to do with the spirits we called?" he asked, recalling the large rush of visitors to nature in the county during the pandemic.

The load limits for the natural cultural spaces, for locals as well as for the tourists themselves, have been reached when one remembers the overcrowded parking lots, congested streets and overcrowded natural spaces.

Rangers point out the correct behavior in nature

Krönauer sees it positively that there are now two additional rangers who can talk to tourists and ask visitors, for example, to be out and about during the day and to observe the animals' resting areas at night and to stay on the paths.

In addition, according to Krönauer, a management concept for the flow of people for the Loisach-Kochelsee-Moor should be created (we reported).

There is one of the most important breeding areas for meadow breeders.

Another positive point from the point of view of the Bund Naturschutz: Finally there is the landscape conservation association, which 40 communities would have agreed to (we reported).

According to Krönauer, the district office, farmers and nature conservationists advise in this association on the preservation of the local cultural landscape.

Renewable energies also a topic at the annual meeting

The district group also comments on renewable energies.

The discussion "wind turbines against forest" is very unfortunate because the forest is also worth protecting as a means of protecting the climate, says Krönauer.

According to scientific knowledge, further expansion of hydropower for energy generation in Bavaria is low, and therefore it is unnecessary to obstruct the last untouched water areas.

When expanding solar energy, roof areas should first be used before open spaces are used up, according to the chairman.

"We have to bring the question of what our landscape should look like to society," he warned.

Amphibian protection: fewer animals counted in 2021 than in 2020

Office manager Monika Schotte reported on amphibian protection.

In 2021, more than 20,000 animals were counted, "significantly fewer" than a year earlier.

Between March and June, 150 volunteers were active at 15 collection points.

Schotte expressed the wish that the municipality of Lenggries would also help with the construction of the fence, as is already the case in other municipalities.

Krönauer had previously reported that more than 3,000 animals had been rescued on the southern shore of Walchensee.

"In this way, a population can be maintained," emphasized the chairman.

Diana Meßmer and Rose Beyer reported on their environmental education programs for children in the "Tölza Garden" - which has already won several awards - in the herb garden and in the all-day school in Wolfratshausen.

Lecture on “Forestry and nature conservation at the Bad Tölz forest enterprise”

The lecture by Rudolf Plochmann from the Bavarian State Forests entitled "Forestry and nature conservation at the Bad Tölz forest enterprise" showed that nature conservationists are also at odds.

The speaker and Achim Rücker, who maintains meadows in the district and protects against forest and bush encroachment, did not agree on whether forest or meadows were worth protecting.

In the Bad Tölz forest enterprise, a deadwood percentage of 41 percent per hectare is very high.

This is the habitat for half of the bird species, a quarter of the forest animals, 1300 beetle and 1500 large mushroom species.

Plochmann emphasized the sustainability of the forest industry.

The use of wood saves 14 percent of CO2 emissions in Germany every year.

And: The construction of a single-family house in timber construction saves the emissions of 40 years of driving a car.
