At the 82nd Spring Festival in the state capital of Stuttgart, the tram stops on the U11 special line will be announced in Swabian.
Stuttgart – On April 16, the Stuttgart Spring Festival will start again after a two-year Corona break with many changes (BW24* reported).
With a "light" version, the organizers continue to be careful - among other things, there will be no marquees.
However, there are no other restrictions on access or a mask requirement*.
The anticipation among the people in the region is great.
Already the announcement that the festival will take place again this year inspired many in the social media - "it's about time," some had written *.
In order to get visitors in the mood for the festivities, the Stuttgarter Strassenbahn AG (SSB) has also come up with a special campaign, as reported by BW24*.
Stuttgart Spring Festival: announcements of stops on the train in Swabian
If you're going to be using the U11 trams in Stuttgart over the next few days, you should listen carefully to the announcements of the stops.
Instead of High German, these are then pronounced Swabian.
On weekends and public holidays, the U11 runs to the Cannstatter Wasen.
As part of the Stuttgart Spring Festival, for example, the motto is: "Next stop Schdaddmidde".
The SSB had originally planned the campaign for the Spring Festival 2020.
However, the corona virus in Baden-Württemberg thwarted the plan - just like the following year.
However, it worked out for the 82nd Stuttgart Spring Festival.
According to a Facebook comment, the action also goes well with the “The Länd” campaign from Baden-Württemberg*, which is intended to attract specialists from all over the world to south-west Germany.
Stuttgarters look forward to the Swabian announcements on the train
Initial reactions on the internet to the announcement of the SSB campaign show that the people of Stuttgart are already having a great time.
Especially since one or two strangers and tourists could probably have problems with the Swabian announcements.
"Nobody understands that, except us," writes a Facebook user jokingly.
Another sees the disaster coming: "And all the tourists are running aimlessly through the city."
But the users can also gain a lot from the funny idea.
"I think that's very likeable," says one user.
"I think these specials are great in general," comments another.
