Andrés Manuel López Obrador took advantage of the presentation on Tuesday of the quarterly government report to continue pressuring the opposition before the imminent parliamentary vote on the electricity reform.

The president has again called the deputies who do not vote on Sunday in favor of the constitutional changes that seek to strengthen the state company, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), to the detriment of private companies, traitors.

A message especially dedicated to the PRI bench that, after months of ambiguity, confirmed that it will not support one of Morena's star measures.

Faced with the more than possible parliamentary fiasco, López Obrador also issued another warning.

"We already protected ourselves in case of betrayal," he said in relation to the recent endorsement of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) to the electricity law,

paralyzed for now in the courts, but that already gave more power to the CFE.

Ordinary legislation is the president's alternative path in case he fails to unblock the constitutional reform.

The presentation of the management balance presented this Tuesday by López Obrador comes after the solid support of his followers in the consultation on the revocation of the mandate held on Sunday.

More than 15 million Mexicans voted for the continuity of the president so that he runs out of office in 2024, exceeding the forecasts of the ruling party in a clear accolade from his bases.

During almost an hour of intervention, the Mexican president was in charge of reviewing the concrete achievements of these three long years of Government in addition to insisting on the symbolic component so present in the political imaginary of López Obrador: "The well-being of the people and the fight against corruption are the essence of our government.”

In the marrow of the change in the institutional and productive model to which Morena aspires, the so-called Fourth Transformation, the president has placed the energy policy, also loaded with symbolism by assuming the dismantling of part of the liberalization of the sector imposed by Enrique's PRI Peña grandson.

With this rhetorical purpose, López Obrador underlined the origin of the CFE, created by President Lázaro Cárdenas, one of his historical references and of whom he feels heir in his policies against poverty and inequality.

The president valued several of his social programs, such as the pension created to care for the elderly - with more than 10 million beneficiaries - or the increase in the minimum wage, more than 70% discounted for inflation.

Almost three quarters of Mexican families receive at least one subsidy from the State,

In the figures section, the president took chest of GDP growth last year.

The 5% of 2021 was in any case insufficient to compensate for the drop caused by the pandemic.

Accompanied by more hard data, the president underlined a battery of leading figures achieved that show his special attention to the balance of fiscal policy and the consolidation of public finances.

The peso has not been devalued during his term, the debt has increased, but less than the average of the three previous governments, while reserves and remittances continue to grow at double digits.

Regarding the increase in inflation, a source of concern that crosses the entire global economy, he limited himself to pointing out that, at 7.45%, it is still lower than that of the United States.

He also defended the great public works undertaken, the recently opened Santa Lucía airport, the Mayan Train, the Tehuantepec Isthmus Corridor or the new refineries.

Morena's oil bet has resulted, according to the president's data, in a 48% drop in fuel imports, and the forecasts are that next year it will be self-sufficient.

In terms of security, one of the most delicate flanks in the country, justified the slight decrease in homicides in its policy more focused on containment than on effective blows.

López Obrador shielded the controversial police functions of the Army upon his arrival in power.

Just the same day that the UN published its umpteenth report urging Mexico to abandon the militarization of public security,
