A member of the International Olympic Committee and a veteran media man who was the former CEO of Keshet Broadcasting and the president of the company, Alex Giladi, passed away today at the age of 79 after a long battle with illness and hospitalization.
Giladi is divorced and the father of a daughter, born in 1942 in Tehran to which his parents fled Poland during World War II, immigrated to Israel at the age of one with the children of Tehran and grew up in Ramat Hasharon.
In 2006 he won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Yad Museum for the Jewish Sportsman.
In 2007 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Haifa.
Israel's representative on the Olympic Committee, also won Emmy Awards for productions of the Olympic Games broadcasters in Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney, the Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the Athens Games for NBC.

He founded Keshet Broadcasting, which won the Channel 2 broadcast franchise, and from 2005 he served as the group's president until his retirement following allegations of sexual harassment.
