Engineer Yasser Ayoub, General Manager of Homs Sugar Company, revealed that the company achieved profits of 400 million pounds during the first quarter of this year from its sales of yeast, alcohol, oil and lint, while the value of sales during the same period exceeded 4.4 billion pounds from its production of yeast, medical alcohol, refined cotton oil and soap. And the rest of the by-products of cake, carbon and industrial alcohol.
Regarding the production process and the difficulties encountered in the work, Ayoub said in a statement to SANA: The sugar factory is still suspended due to the lack of raw materials needed for production, as it was announced to purchase 25 thousand tons of raw sugar by the General Sugar Corporation, and the oil factory is still suspended until the full quantities of seeds are supplied. Cotton from the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing for the 2021-2022 season.
He added: Out of the concern for the continuity of work and benefiting from its production capacity, it was announced that the operation of a quantity of 25 thousand tons of red sugar was announced to others, and the announcement is made on a continuous basis for the pressing and processing of cotton seeds or oil sunflower seeds for a fee for the benefit of others according to a book of technical and legal conditions prepared for this purpose, after completion From manufacturing the quantities of cotton seeds available.
Ayoub explained that the yeast factory is operating at full production capacity to supply the governorates of Homs, Tartous, Lattakia and Hama with their need of soft yeast, as the production during the mentioned period reached 1728 tons of soft yeast, indicating that the production of operating the alcohol factory is linked to the demand for the product and according to the need for medical alcohol, where 66 were produced A ton of white alcohol and more than 7 tons of blue alcohol in addition to 9 tons of carbon gas, while 16 tons were produced in the soap section. The production is related to the operation of the oil plant and achieving economic feasibility.
It is noteworthy that the company achieved profits during the past year amounting to about 2.9 billion pounds, while the value of sales during the same period exceeded 14.3 billion pounds.
