Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that he does not see the possibility of exchanging Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk, whom Kyiv claims to have ties with Russia, for Ukrainian prisoners of war held by Russia.
In press statements today, Peskov said that Medvedchuk is not a Russian citizen and does not have any connection with the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, and he did not have any secret relations with Russia, indicating that if that was the case, as the Kyiv authorities claim, he would have left Ukraine before the start of the special operation.
For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned of the danger of the Kyiv authorities' delinquency to arrest Ukrainian citizens and then demand their exchange for prisoners of war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his forces had arrested Medvedchuk during a special security operation.
On his account on Telegram, Zelensky posted a picture of a man suspected of being the head of the political council of the opposition Platform for Life, Viktor Medvedchuk, handcuffed and boasting that a special operation had been carried out thanks to the Ukrainian security services.
