Presidential 2022: Macron wants to "enrich his project" with proposals from Jadot or Mélenchon

2022-04-13T20:35:20.728Z

Two days after lightening his pension reform proposal, the president-candidate is trying "to listen, convince and go to all French people to deploy a project that has sometimes been caricatured".

On the presidential highway, Emmanuel Macron tries a subtle left turn.

Three days after winning the first round with 27.84% of the vote, the candidate president knows that to ensure his re-election against Marine Le Pen, he must speak to the former voters of Jean-Luc Mélenchon or Yannick Jadot.

And this, in order to convince them to block the nationalist contender while some could well take refuge in the abstentionist vote or even support her.

Guest of 8 p.m. on TF1 on Wednesday evening, Emmanuel Macron was therefore open to taking up proposals that were in the debate until last Sunday.

"

You have to listen to the anger in these moments too, sometimes the concerns, the misunderstandings

", explains the outgoing president, who wishes "to

enrich the project which is

(his)

by looking at what is in the projects of those who have decided to

support (it)

is both compatible and makes it stronger.

“With a view to a possible second five-year term, Emmanuel Macron knows”

that there are things on which we can go further on ecology for example and other subjects which appear in the projects of candidates who do not did not make it past the first round.

" Before announcing that he will say in

"the next few days"

which proposals, in line with the "

clarity

" and the "

constantness

" of his program, he will take over.

An idea which is based, according to him, on the "

mayors

" who would

"often"

do the same thing "

between the first and the second round

".

Pretending not to classify the French according to their political colors, Emmanuel Macron indicates: “

I want to talk to our compatriots.

We are a people.

A presidential election, that's it.

And no one owns their voices.

Asked about the fact that certain parts of the programs of his former opponents on the left are totally opposed to the vision he defends, Emmanuel Macron recognizes this, almost ironically.

Degrowth is not in my program, I confirm it, I will not change, I think that we must create wealth to redistribute and be stronger,

analyzes the president-candidate who assumes to target voters rebels or ecologists.

On the other hand, ecological planning is something that I can nourish myself with, elements of proposals on the quality of water, air, sea are things that are compatible, sometimes that I have been able to start.

Eleven days before the first round, Emmanuel Macron is therefore triangulating.

Go on the ground of the adversary to try to recover his ideas while keeping his initial electoral base.

Hence his desire

"to listen, to convince and to go to all French people to deploy a project that has sometimes been caricatured."

On Monday, traveling to Denain (North), he had already watered down his wine to seek out left-wing voters: his major pension reform pushing back the legal retirement age to 65 could be reduced to 64 while being the subject of a referendum.

It must be said that since last Sunday 8 p.m., the Head of State has his eyes riveted on the figures.

In the latest Ifop-Fiducial poll for LCI, Paris Match and Sud Radio, only 37% of LFI voters and 59% of those who slipped a Jadot ballot would vote for the president-candidate in the second round.

A large third of the two electorates would abstain.
