The lesson that must not be forgotten: fighting for the land of our ancestors, thanks to the heritage Israel today

2022-04-13T20:41:44.958Z

The question we need to find out for ourselves is what are we struggling with: is it just about the "routine of existence" or is there also "for what"? • The order given by the Samaria Brigadier General to his soldiers at the beginning of the movement to Yosef's tomb creates the connection between the two questions

The increased preparedness for Passover and the increased activity of the security forces remind the people of Israel that freedom and dignified existence in the homeland are being bought in the struggle.

The activity of the security forces in dealing with the challenges of the hour, focuses at this stage on four essential efforts: the basic and initial effort is the security effort in the urban areas;

The second effort - securing the seam line and the fence;

The third effort - an initiated offensive activity, aimed at intelligence in the depths of the area, to thwart terrorist nests in Palestinian cities and villages, especially in the area of the city of Jenin;

The fourth effort was launched yesterday as a military effort in broad daylight to rehabilitate Yosef's tomb caused by Palestinian rioters.

Each of the efforts expresses a different operational logic, and all of them connect the necessary and obvious effort to passively and fundamentally protect the very life, and the effort concerning the protection of the fundamental connection of the people of Israel to their land and the heritage of their ancestors.

Terrorism experts are mainly focused on technical questions, such as those that can be given factual investigative support such as: What is the form of the attack?

With what weapon and where was it purchased?

Is the perpetrator an individual or a member of the organization?

In all of these questions the discussion is based on data, and can remain devoid of a value position and political worldview.

On one fundamental question, the professional debate finds it difficult to establish a position devoid of value and political bias - this is the big question "why and for what is terrorism being used?".

After being vandalized by Palestinian rioters: Joseph's tomb was renovated in a complex operation

And looking at ourselves, the question we need to find out for ourselves is what are we struggling with?

Is it only about the protection of life and the existence of the routine of life or is there another dimension that connects together the question "How do we protect existence?"

With the question "What are they for, and why here?".

The order given yesterday by the commander of the Samaria Brigade to his soldiers at the beginning of the movement to Yosef's tomb, creates the connection between the two questions.

In an order regarding all the forces, he said: "Instead, the land was promised to our ancestor Abraham ... and we are acting today with a high hand, like our fathers when they left Egypt ... as sons of kings, this is how we get to restore the honor of the land to the people of Israel."

In this spirit, IDF commanders spoke to the founding generation, such as Moshe Dayan. We returned to the mountain, to the cradle of the days of our people, to the land of the fathers, the land of the judges and the stronghold of the kingdom of the house of David.

The uplifting command of Brigadier General Samaria resonates with the people of Israel and the peoples of the region, because we exist in this country and fight for our existence, inspired by a sublime ancient heritage. Not only in a desperate search for safe refuge.
