The living millionaire, Hamas version: lower the price of chicken | Israel today

Sinwar and his associates are trying to inflame the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria, but in Gaza they are trying to prevent unrest due to a particularly explosive factor • Assessment: Milling in support of the organization will increase the threat to Israel

While in the territories the attention of the Palestinian public is given to the unfolding events and IDF activity in Jenin and its environs, in Gaza the residents are busy with something completely different - the prices of chicken in the Strip. This is the main thing that concerns them,

With the beginning of the month of Ramadan, some of the traders in the markets in the Strip began to take advantage of the widespread demand of the residents for the consumption of basic products, and raised the prices of poultry on their own.

According to the head of the Poultry Breeders' Association in Gaza, the Strip consumes more than 100,000 birds a day during Ramadan.

There were merchants who sold poultry for NIS 17-16 per kilo, which caused a great deal of criticism among the residents.

Many complained about the exorbitant prices.

There were also those who called for a boycott of poultry consumption in protest of the cost of living.

This is exactly the stage at which Hamas realized that they needed to intervene in the market in order to curb the rise in prices, and especially the public criticism that was beginning to arise in the street.

It has been announced that a body will be set up to manage the crisis and ensure price controls.

In an attempt to restore stability to the market, it was determined that the maximum price per kilogram of chicken will be NIS 13 and that the decision will take effect from today.

Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar has acted in a similar way in the past, for example a few years ago when the "Badna Naish" ("want to live") protest arose against the background of rising fuel prices.

Whenever there are signs of protest, Hamas members suppress them by force of arm.

This time it is about the prices of poultry, a matter that concerns every home in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas is very sensitive to their popularity, especially now that jihad is intensifying.

As popular support for Hamas declines, the organization will have good reason to turn its fire on Israel.

Meanwhile, at a conference held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the Palestinian factions announced a "state of general mobilization of the Palestinian people," and called for resistance to increase preparedness and readiness to defend the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian public in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the "48 'territories were also called upon to arrive at the al-Aqsa Mosque this coming Friday.

It was also reported: "The factions and the joint Knesset are in a state of constant gathering to monitor developments and take all necessary steps to protect our people and their holy places."
