23 incidents of violence against Jews have been recorded in the past month in New York alone, with a much higher figure across the United States.

Through the shooting incident yesterday (Tuesday) in New York, which is not being investigated as terrorism, one can look at the first quarter of 2022 - in which it was recorded at antisemitic events in the United States.

In the Jewish communities in Brooklyn, they followed the shooting incident on the subway in the neighborhood with great concern, according to what appears to be the target of the shooter not only Jews, but the vigilance increased.

The NYPD's quarterly hate report, New York Police Department, indicates a further increase in antisemitic incidents in the city.

According to data released by police, antisemitic hate crimes in New York City rose by 250% in the first three months of 2022 compared to those months in 2021.

In total, 94 hate crimes against Jews were reported in the city during the months of January-March, 67 more than reported in the months of January-March 2021.

By the way, in March itself there were 23 antisemitic incidents, compared to 12 incidents in 2021, an increase of 92%.

As is well known, these data are still subject to change and may be even higher, based on the assumption that there are events that are still under investigation as well as many events that are not reported in real time or that are not reported at all.

Among the events that occurred during this period only in New York, there were many incidents of physical violence, alongside incidents of verbal violence and vandalism.

January at least 4 incidents of physical violence in which a Jewish man was beaten in the face in Brooklyn, a Hasidic man was beaten with sticks in Williamsburg, and a woman spat at an 8-year-old Jewish boy after cursing him and making antisemitic statements.

In February, there were about 8 violent incidents in which an elderly Jewish bus driver who was attacked and firecrackers were thrown at a group of Jews in Brooklyn.

Among the incidents reported in March were two yeshiva students who were attacked by a group of thugs, who fired at them with a gun and hit one of the guys in the head.

These figures represent only New York, but in the United States, as in the rest of the world, there are many antisemitic incidents most of which do not make headlines.

These alarming figures continue the dangerous trend expressed in a recent report by the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency in Israel Today, according to which about 30 percent of the number of antisemitic incidents that occurred around the world in 2021 were in US territory (Texas) Only "in sixth place among U.S. states. It is preceded by Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, California, and is the leader in the number of cases of anti-Semitism in the United States - New York, etc.).

Racheli Baretz Ricks, head of the Department of Combating Anti-Semitism and Community Resilience at the World Zionist Organization, told Israel Today:

Anti-Semitism exists today and continues to raise its head.

"We must work in full cooperation with local law enforcement agencies to minimize harm to Jews as much as possible, but also to continue to support and strengthen from within the community resilience of Jews in the Diaspora, so that they can continue to face these challenges."
