The Wings of the Ocean association lands in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime).
Committed to the preservation of the oceans, its members have just acquired the “Scylla”, a second sailboat, with the help of Léa Nature – the biggest partnership ever made by this group from La Rochelle for a period of three years.
The very first call of this ship is thus expected at the old port this Friday 15 or Saturday 16 April depending on the weather conditions.
For Wings of the Ocean, the challenge is immense.
Its members and volunteers are preparing to begin a six-month mission on the Atlantic coast.
"We are going to undertake marine depollution and awareness-raising actions", explains Léopold Guyot, the communication manager of this association founded in 2018. A first ship, the "Kraken" was already criss-crossing the Mediterranean.
The "Scylla" will now make it possible to duplicate the actions of its 20 employees and some 350 volunteers involved full-time.
Among their priorities: collecting, sorting and characterizing waste.
"This makes it possible to better understand pollution, to share this data with local authorities and to feed a participative national network", emphasizes Léopold Guyot.

The “Scylla” will remain moored in La Rochelle until April 25 and then return there for a month around May 6.
Visits will be offered on the sailboat to better understand the missions of the association, or even participate in them.
"Our actions will be announced on social networks", specifies Léopold Guyot who also mentions a stopover on the island of Oléron in June.
