The Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University, the Departments of Oral Medicine and Pediatric Dentistry, organized today a voluntary campaign targeting children with disabilities at (Houdi Al-Sama) Foundation to support and rehabilitate their oral health and provide them with free treatment.

Dr. Abeer Al-Jojo, Head of the Oral Medicine Department at the college, confirmed that this initiative comes within the framework of the voluntary initiatives and campaigns that the College of Dentistry carries out on a permanent basis, targeting various groups of society with the aim of providing health services, whether for children with disabilities or the elderly in care homes and children in shelters.

Al-Jogo indicated that today's initiative included two parts, the first being an entertaining and educational awareness for oral health in special ways carried out by a specialized team and a voluntary trainee of master's students in the departments of oral medicine and pediatric dentistry at the college, and the second part being therapeutic, through a careful examination of children to assess their therapeutic needs, which will be secured in the college with an appropriate health service for them.

In turn, Dr. Shatha Qoshji, Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and President of the Syrian Association of Pediatric Dentistry, indicated that this voluntary educational initiative aims to link the university with the community, where the students of the Department of Oral Medicine diagnosed dental work and dental procedures for the children in the institution, regardless of the type of disability, so that the role of accurate diagnosis came to know the cases who need treatment in the college, which provides free treatment service by master's doctors in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.

Orouba Al-Qassar Kamali, Director of the Board of Trustees of (Houdi Al-Sama Foundation) for people with disabilities, expressed her appreciation for this initiative, which contributes to providing dental medical care services for children in the institution, especially since there are many cases who suffer from epilepsy and sometimes damage their teeth and they need medical care and treatment in addition to encouraging To do charity work and spread it to all sectors that are able to provide services and voluntary work that serve this category of society.

The doctors participating in the volunteer team confirmed that their goal is to educate children about how to maintain and clean teeth, in addition to a thorough examination of the teeth, introducing them to useful foods and avoiding harmful ones, and filling out forms for children in need of treatment to be submitted later at the college.
