Prince Harry is expected in the Netherlands in a few days, accompanied by his wife Meghan.

However, there should not be a meeting with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

The Hague – The starting signal for the Invictus Games will be given next weekend in the Netherlands.

Being part of the event is a real affair of the heart for Prince Harry (37) as the initiator of the Paralympic Games.

Meghan Markle (40) is also expected in The Hague.

However, the Sussexes are denied a special honor there.

Harry and Meghan in The Hague: No reception at the royal couple

Prince Harry's trip to the Netherlands causes quite a stir before his plane even takes off.

For weeks, the Duke of Sussex has had to take heavy criticism for the travel plans, especially from Great Britain.

He could not – or did not want to – take part in the memorial service for Prince Philip (99, † 2021), but less than four weeks later he flies to the Invictus Games in The Hague.

It is said that his worries about his safety without police protection in England are too great for himself and his family, so he does not want to return to London.

This argument does not necessarily meet with great understanding, especially in palace circles.

A few days ago it was announced that Meghan Markle will accompany her husband to the Netherlands.

The 40-year-old has not been in Europe since the so-called "Megxit".

If the Sussexes travel to The Hague, a meeting with representatives of the royal family there would be obvious.

But neither King Willem-Alexander (54) nor Queen Máxima (50) will welcome Harry and Meghan in their homeland.

Harry and Meghan in The Hague: are they still visiting Queen Elizabeth?

However, the background to the matter is not that Willem-Alexander and Máxima simply don't feel like meeting the visitors from the USA.

Since Meghan and Harry's trip is private, the protocol does not provide for a royal reception for the two.

There will therefore be no audience, which has now been confirmed by a spokesman for the Dutch palace.

Meanwhile, British media are eagerly puzzling over whether Prince Harry and his wife might not be able to make a trip to Great Britain after the Invictus Games.

After all, Queen Elizabeth celebrates her 96th birthday on April 21st.

Harry was last in London for the unveiling of the Diana statue last summer.
