If you drive an electric car, you need electricity and that is expensive.

Apparently, that's why some drivers realized that the municipality had parking spaces with sockets in an underground car park in Gröbenzell and used them illegally.

Gröbenzell – The free gas station has now been closed.

However, one question still remains open.

The location of the event is the underground car park of the social and meeting center, right next to the town hall.

This was apparently converted into a public e-charging station.

There are freely accessible sockets, also at the parking space for a vehicle from the municipality, which regularly recharges electricity there.

However, other drivers have also discovered the sockets and refueled their e-vehicles with free electricity.

Are there consequences?

That only came out because social services pointed it out to the town hall administration.

Then things happened very quickly: The free gas station was closed the very next day and all sockets in the underground car park were blocked off.

Drivers may face consequences: An attempt is being made to identify the owners of the vehicles who have illegally filled up their cars here.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)

Until not so long ago, there were still officially ways to charge your e-car with electricity in Gröbenzell without having to pay anything for it.

The municipal council recently stopped the free use of two e-charging stations on Rathausstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse.

Some had the suspicion of promoting tank tourism here.

In other words: not only Gröbenzell used it, but also drivers from the surrounding communities.

More charging stations

But it is also clear that there should be more opportunities to recharge your e-car outside of your own property – for a fee.

So far, there are only two charging stations on Rathausstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse, and several supermarkets offer the option of charging your vehicle with energy.

CSU councilor Brigitte Böttger would like to see an improvement in the e-charging infrastructure.

"The expansion of further charging stations in the residential areas with apartment buildings and terraced houses in the sense of participation and social justice," she calls for in a corresponding application to the municipal council.

Because: "It cannot be that only privileged citizens with their own wall box on the property can participate in the development of e-mobility."

suggestions

Böttger had suggested various places where e-charging stations could be set up.

This includes Friedenstrasse for visitors to the cemetery and local residents, Ammerseestrasse and Osterseestrasse, at the three elementary schools for their teachers, in the car park at the leisure center or at the fire brigade.

The town hall administration is now asked to look for operators who are willing to set up charging stations.

However, this could be difficult because the whole thing has to be profitable for the operators.

As Martin Runge (Greens) reported, the operator of the floor searched for a long time until he found an operator for an e-charging station in his parking lot.

And there are actually numerous e-cars parked here.
