Renovation has begun: No sport in the Poinger Stadium

The stadium in the Poing sports center is being completely renovated: the football pitch is being renewed, as is the tartan track.

The work should last until the end of July.

Poing - The stadium in the Poinger sports center is currently like a field: the lawn of the football field has been removed, the tartan track is already partially gone.

The renovation work started this week and should be completed by the end of July.

The surface of the running track and the two areas behind the football goals will be completely removed and renewed.

The same applies to the lawn.

Poing: turf base course 32 years old

According to Mayor Thomas Stark, its base layer is 32 years old.

"Shallow-rooted grasses are removed, organic matter is broken down and the lawn is reseeded," he announces.

The measure promotes air/gas exchange for better growth in order to be able to establish a hard-wearing lawn.

In order to avoid a delayed and therefore longer closure of the stadium, the renovation of the tartan track and the lawn will be carried out at the same time.

The stadium is being redesigned with this measure: the basketball facility in the south is no longer available, and instead a streetball field with two baskets is being built on the former stock shooter track.

A discus and high jump facility will be built in the southern area of ​​the stadium;

the previous shot put facility and the moat will disappear as they are not used.

A new long jump pit and a pole vault area are being built in the northern area.

Furthermore, small field goals are planned for both areas behind the respective football goals.

Stadium Poing gets floodlights

According to the municipal administration, the total costs for the redesign are estimated at almost 700,000 euros (without lawns).

In addition, 153,600 euros have been budgeted for the construction of a floodlight system in the stadium.

So that training and competitions/games are also possible in the evening.
