Stephanie Kirchner leaves the car because of the high fuel costs.

Instead, she uses horses from her riding stables to commute to work, which saves money.

Oberweyer/Schupbach – Not every citizen can easily pay the current petrol prices out of their own pockets.

Stephanie Kirchner from Schupbach, owner of the Oberweyerer riding school "3 D Reitspass", feels the same way.

The 33-year-old no longer knew how to pay for the tank fillings in the Corona period, which was not rich in events anyway.

That's when she came up with the idea of using her professional know-how - and so far she has been able to save 450 euros on petrol in the first month, as reported by fnp.de*.

Kirchner has to move her own ten horses every day as well as another 15 horses hired by paying guests.

Then she thought she could ride a carriage or on horseback from home in Schupbach to work in Oberweyer every day and back again in the evening.

Sometimes she also rides an e-bike.

Horse farm in Hadamar: To save money, you can take a horse instead of a car

One route is 6.4 kilometers long.

"I've already driven my intern home to Wirbelau in a covered wagon," says Kirchner.

She only has to take the car twice a week to go to the farm.

Because then she has to transport water for the animals there.

But she also wants to organize that differently in the future, because her car consumes 13.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

But she needs the car to drive her two-and-a-half-year-old son to his grandmother in Schadeck.

"Of course it makes no sense to buy a horse just to save on gas," says the entrepreneur.

But if you already have horses anyway, then you can also use them as a means of transportation, she emphasizes.

With a pony, she doesn't gallop much slower at home than with the car.

It takes her a quarter of an hour by car.

In a gallop on a horse, she can cover the distance in 40 minutes.

On cold days, she prefers to ride on horseback because, unlike riding in a covered wagon, you stay warm.

Owner of a horse farm in Hadamar: solution to expensive fuel found

Kirchner isn't the only one on her farm who wants to save on gas.

Her colleague Maria Dluhosch also rides home to Oberzeuzheim every day.

Kirchner, who is Schupbach by choice, has always been a fan of horses.

As she explains, as a child she often rode from Arfurt to Niedertiefenbach after school to do her homework with her friend.

And later she would be home on the horse again.

Once, as a child, she completely misbehaved and then had to call her parents, who then picked her up in Königstein with her horse.

"It's a shame that there aren't that many real horse girls anymore," regrets Kirchner.

Modern technology has ruined a lot of things.

Some young girls would only come to the horses to take some pictures for their Instagram profile and then ride again.

Horse as an alternative to the car: woman from Hadamar gets from A to B

The 33-year-old, on the other hand, has done a lot of crazy things on her horse.

She has also ridden a horse into the drive-in at Burger King in the Obertiefenbach investment center.

When another customer moaned about the smell of horses in the parking lot, she replied that he didn't mind eating right on a busy street.

Kirchner says that exercising every day is good for the horses and keeps them in shape.

When she goes on trail rides, she sometimes travels 50 kilometers a day.

But there are also different characters among horses.

Some wanted to keep moving, others would rather have a quiet day.

The Dutch draft horse stallion Florus likes to pull the wagon from Oberweyer to Schupbach with his colleague Denny, but he is also an internet star.

According to Kirchner, he can go to sleep or laugh on command.

It also effortlessly pulls skateboarders and skiers.

Florus also has no problem with children standing on his back with spinning hula hoops.

That's why there are many funny pictures of Florus on the internet.

Horses are not only useful for covering a distance.

They can also be used as psychotherapists, pedagogues and physiotherapists, as in curative horse riding*.
