The Director of the Technical Department at the Syrian Telecom Company, Eng. Musab Al-Haj Ali, explained that the company is working to double the capacity of the international gateway for the Internet from 470 GB to 800 GB, and expand the internal sections of the data exchange network and digital transmission equipment at the marine station in Tartous, which will solve the problem of bottlenecks on the network and enhance its effectiveness.

Al-Hajj Ali explained that the expansion enables the addition of new circuits on the international portal, which will reflect positively on the quality of the services provided and meet the increasing demand for broadband services, which achieves the company's strategy of horizontal expansion and Internet access to the widest possible segment of subscribers according to their needs.

Al-Hajj Ali indicated that the new expansion enables subscribers to raise the speed of the “ADSL” gateway above 4 megabytes for those who wish to do so, as earlier the process of raising the speed above 4 megabytes for “ADSL” subscribers was stopped in order to provide the service with an appropriate quality He indicated that the company is seeking to expand the digital transmission equipment at the marine station in Tartous to become 1 tera.

Al-Hajj Ali pointed out that about 100,000 gates have arrived at the company’s warehouses, which will be distributed to telecommunications branches in the governorates, which will enhance the spread of the service and increase the number of beneficiaries, as they are prepared and transferred for installation as follows: about 11,000 in Damascus, 20,000 in Damascus countryside, 18,000 in Daraa, and 4,000 in As-Suwayda, 14,000 in Homs, 10,000 in Hama, 6,000 in Aleppo, 8,000 in Lattakia, 10,000 in Tartous, and 1,500 in Deir ez-Zor.

Work is being done to secure broadband services using “Fixed LTE” wireless technology in the liberated areas that do not have infrastructure, as stations have been installed in 6 governorates distributed over Douma and Madira in Damascus countryside, Jabal Zain al-Abidin in Hama, Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib and New Aleppo in Aleppo and Daraa, the station in Daraa and Al-Qusayr in Homs, with a capacity of 3,000 subscribers for each station, according to Hajj Ali.

Earlier, Syrian Telecom had announced the completion of the technical work related to the expansion of the international gate, whereby Internet subscribers through the “ADSL” gateways to send messages and private providers wishing to raise the speeds of their Internet gates to more than 4 megabytes can submit their requests through the company’s centers starting from Tomorrow.
