Kerstin Thinnes regularly charges her Tesla in her garage in Dürnbach.

Without this possibility, driving e-cars in the district would not be possible, she says.

Residential areas in particular are poorly developed.

The e-car driver Kerstin Thinnes criticizes the charging infrastructure in the district of Miesbach.

A private wall box is “definitely” necessary, she says.

District – Kerstin Thinnes from Dürnbach is a self-confessed electric car driver.

And as the proud owner of a Tesla Model 3 ("amazing") and a Kia Sorento (hybrid model), she says: "The district of Miesbach is not particularly well equipped with charging stations." E-car drivers "definitely need a wall box". have in order not to be dependent.

Thinnes is lucky - she can charge in her garage at home.

But that is not possible everywhere.

The e-car driver sees a real problem here on the way to a traffic turnaround.

"If you want fewer combustion engines, you also have to create the charging infrastructure." However, the pillars are not available at all, especially in residential areas with apartment buildings - some without garages.

“Many park their cars on the street and have no public charging facilities.

And if you have to walk forever to charge, you won’t buy an electric car.”

E-charging stations in the district of Miesbach: Tesla driver criticized - "Charging stations mostly occupied"

The situation in everyday life is similarly precarious.

If you have to charge on the go, the charging capacity at supermarkets, for example, is too low.

In fact, most of the connections in the Miesbach district are not fast charging stations.

An empty car usually needs several hours at a socket with 22 kw/h to fill up.

"The speed just isn't there to make it really useful," says Thinnes.

"And if I then want to charge on the go, the charging stations are usually occupied." Sometimes by other electric cars, but often also by cars with combustion engines, which quickly occupy the free parking space without being able to charge there.

The woman from Dürnbach therefore bought a hybrid as a second car together with her husband, not a purely electric car like the Tesla.

The Kia can travel about 60 kilometers with electricity, then a petrol engine supports the onward journey.

That's how she comes to Munich and back if she can't find a free socket locally.

Driving an e-car: There is potential for Tesla, for example - but only with infrastructure

Above all, she lacks transparency in the Miesbach district.

"I don't really know where there are charging facilities." For future expansion, Thinnes therefore considers such a demonstration to be just as important as the construction of charging stations in residential areas.

Employers could also offer charging stations.

"If you can plan with a fixed charging point, the switch will certainly be easier."

And switching to electric cars is worthwhile, Thinnes confirms.

"It's a completely different kind of driving." She drives more slowly, but also more relaxed as a result.

"And the fuel prices, which are already abnormal at over 2.20 euros, don't affect you as much." Electricity can't get so expensive that electric cars are no longer worthwhile, she hopes.

The woman from Dürnbach bought the Tesla about two years ago.

"We would buy one again," confirms Thinnes.

Even the ordering process was impressive.

There are fewer options when it comes to configuration, which also speeds up the process significantly.

The e-car driver sees “great potential” in the technology itself.

Provided that the charging infrastructure is properly increased.
