Starnberg - Among the refugees arriving from Ukraine are many school-age children.
The Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture is currently setting up pedagogical welcome groups at schools throughout Bavaria to take in the children.
The district of Starnberg also wants to make a contribution.
The educational welcome groups should give the children and young people support and security and make it easier for the families to settle in.
Suitable staff must now be recruited to staff the welcome groups.
Information and the opportunity to register in the applicant portal is available at www.km.bayern.de/willkommenskraft.
District Administrator Stefan Frey: “For children, the flight and the war in their home country is the greatest burden.
We must do everything to give them normality.
This includes a regulated process, structures and school.
School and lessons are also the prerequisite for integration.”
A structured offer for refugee children from Ukraine
The pedagogical welcome groups form a daily or weekly structured offer.
There are various tasks for the welcome workers.
They represent a permanent reference person for the children and young people, accompany them when they arrive at school and are direct contacts.
They take on support tasks (e.g. in the context of job applications, creative offers) and create the framework for a first encounter with the German language.
They also support the teachers on site and take on teaching activities.
