The demands of the members of the annual conference of the Professional Confederation of Transport Workers focused on the necessity of addressing the shortage of diesel and gasoline suffered by the drivers of passenger and vehicle transport buses, renewing the fleet of internal transport companies, giving maritime transport the necessary attention and providing it with equipment and experienced labor.
The participants in the conference, which was held today in the building of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Damascus, called through the “Zoom” platform to expedite the issuance of the traffic law and the railway control system, opening the wage ceiling for Tartous port workers, addressing the situation of workers not contracting with the investing company, and not fining workers in the railway sector with personal covenant in The centers and stations entered by armed terrorist gangs and the re-working of the Nassib border crossing under the supervision of the Land Transport Syndicate in Daraa and addressing the issue of labor representation in the board of directors of Syrian Airlines.
The participants stressed the importance of re-insurance of the workers of carrying and unloading with insurance in all the funds of the Social Insurance Institution, exempting the union from providing initial and final insurances when participating in offers and tenders with public authorities, and including workers of the Office of Transport of Goods with health insurance and workers of transport directorates by decree of hard and dangerous professions.
In a speech during the conference, Ghassan Rasoul, the head of the Transport Workers’ Vocational Union, stated that the union witnessed intense activity during the past year, as it was closely monitored through continuous visits on the reality of institutions, companies, start-up centers and the occupational difficulties facing workers, and they were discussed with the concerned departments to find solutions to them.
For his part, a member of the Executive Office of the General Union supervising the work of the conference, Haider Hassan, indicated that the transport sector is the most important service sector that has been affected by terrorism, which necessitated paying attention to its rehabilitation, stressing the continuation of communication with the concerned authorities to find solutions to labor problems, easing the burdens on salaries and increasing compensation granted to workers. .
