Wasim Assayed, a 34-year-old Palestinian from Hebron, is the suspect in the murder of the Kadouri couple in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem about three years ago, the police announced today (Thursday).

His interrogation revealed that his activities stemmed from his support for ISIS, to which he had previously sworn allegiance.

Today, the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office filed a statement by a prosecutor regarding the intention to file an indictment against him in the coming days.

The couple Yehuda, 71, and Tamar, 68, were stabbed to death in their apartment in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood.

Over time several suspects were arrested but they were released after it became clear that they were not involved in the murder.

Since then the case has remained open.

Between 2015 and 2018, Assyed was banned due to activity in the Islamic State infrastructure that planned to carry out attacks against Israeli targets.

He murdered the Kadouri couple after his release, managed to escape - and a few days later was arrested again by Israeli security forces, and prosecuted for incitement and membership in a hostile organization - regardless of the murder.

At the end of his imprisonment he was transferred to a lengthy administrative detention of about two and a half years from which he was only recently released.

Police and GSS investigators who investigated the murder of the Kadouri couple immediately after the affair broke out estimated that the suspect they were looking for was free to roam, and did not assume that he was in prison - in administrative detention.

About a month ago, shortly after his release, the suspect was caught by chance when he was arrested along with three other people on suspicion of murdering Ivan Tarnowski, a 37-year-old Moldovan citizen, in Jerusalem.

Police forces began collecting findings and evidence, and the investigation, which was initially conducted by the unit for fighting crime in the Kedem area, was transferred to the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District.

At the same time, investigators from the Central Unit in Jerusalem identified similarities between the murder scene of the Kadouri couple and Tarnowski.

During the first raid on the room at his parents' house in Hebron, IDF investigators confiscated equipment, but returned to the house once more - and only then, under the direction of the terrorist's mother, did they find the bag containing religious books and shoes he wore at the Kadouri murder scene. Asaid has not worn the shoes since the murder, but has continued to keep them in his possession.

He was transferred to the GSS for questioning because he was identified with ISIS and on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities and intent to carry out an attack.

Thus, as part of further investigative actions carried out, it emerged during his interrogation at the Shin Bet and the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District that during January 2019, Assid murdered the Kadouri couple. It also emerged that a day before the murder, on January 9, 2019, Alkahi in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood. He failed in the mission, after the knife got stuck in the collar of the shirt and she was lightly injured

. He saw Yehuda Kadouri unload bags from his chariot towards his house, he followed him and managed to enter the house without Yehuda noticing.

He walked around the house, met Tamar Kadouri in one of the rooms and stabbed her to death.

He then hid in one of the other rooms and ambushed Judah, who had not yet noticed his wife's body.

Yehuda put the products in the refrigerator and sat down to eat in the pasta parlor he made for himself.

Then, Asaid attacked him and brutally murdered him.

Judah fought Assyria, but fell and died.

Asaid, wearing gloves, stayed in the apartment until morning and stayed on the carpet in the living room.

In the morning, Asiad came out of the couple's apartment, locked the door and threw the keys in a sewer pit in the area.

He then moved to his apartment in A-Ram, East Jerusalem.

The couple's daughter tried to contact them for three days prior to the day of the murder, and contacted police after failing to enter their home.

Firefighters broke into the apartment through the balcony and located the couple, before the MDA team determined that they had arrived at the scene

.

He later performed reconstructions in each of the arenas, during which he pointed out confidential details that were known only to him.

Between the similarities of the two murder scenes is the cruelty and slitting of the victims' throats.

"Camel slaughter," as Assyed put it and is known from the murders identified with ISIS.

The investigation material shows that Assayid searched for his victims at random, and set himself the goal of murdering Jews.

The police explained that the difficulty in tracing him was due in part to the independence of his actions - he searched for open apartments and thus committed the murders and returned to his tracks.
