China announced today that it will hold large-scale military exercises in Taiwan, in response to the recent US provocations.
And local media quoted the Chinese Ministry of Defense as saying, "The Chinese army will conduct today's air and naval military exercises in the Taiwan region," noting that they are directed against the "wrong signals" of the United States on the Taiwan issue.
And the White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said yesterday that Washington will take all possible measures to prevent the reunification of Taiwan with China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping previously assured his US counterpart Joe Biden that the Taiwan issue needs to be "properly handled" in order to avoid any negative impact on Sino-US relations.
