His Holiday: Ziv Shilon Makes Order | Israel today

2022-04-15T17:18:23.276Z

Dies for Tunisian food, gets excited about his nephews and regularly reads the wise son in the Haggadah: Seder night by Ziv Shilon

Where do you do the holiday?

"This year I will be staying with my sister Hila at Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev, together with the whole family. I will sit at the holiday table with my wife Adi, the children Shira (6 and a half) and Jonathan (4 and a half), my father Zvi, my brothers and their children. It has been a long time since we were all together. The one who runs the seder is my uncle, Shalom, who does it with a high hand. "I read the 'smart' out of four boys every year, but I'm not saying it indicates anything."

Every family has a traditional Passover meal.

And with you?

"Before Pesach, the Tunisians prepare 'Bishisha', which is a mixture of semolina with sweets. They also sometimes throw jewelry there that occasionally breaks someone's teeth. This is a practice that preceded the sale of chametz and took root in certain parts of the Eastern community.

Who would you dream of sitting at the holiday table with?

"I would like my mother Margalit to remember the blessing, who passed away six and a half years ago, to sit with us. Every year during the holidays, and especially on Passover, she would get organized well in advance and make sure all the cleaning was done. She would prepare everything, above and beyond. "Everything was perfect and especially the smells of cooking that were in the air. Mom was very dominant and I miss her experience, so surely, if I could, I would like to have the holiday with her."

Do you have a special childhood memory from Passover?

"On Seder night at my grandmother's grandmother's house, Jamila, there were special dishes and we met the cousins. When there were no phones and the TV was small and heavy with few channels, we would gather around the table, laugh and not need too much. What set us apart were the simple moments "The goddess, who I think is sorely lacking in the current generation, because there is a great deal of practice in telephones. Even today, when I see my little nephews playing, it reminds me of my childhood. But when they reach adolescence it changes."

Where will you travel on holiday?

"We go out as a group with seven families of childhood friends. Some with children and some not, but in any case it's a lot of children playing together. The main goal is to see our amazing country and plow it with our feet. This is a challenging time and it's important for me now to get to know The country and its beauty. "
