How to build with? Not just the West Bank Israel today

And you told your son that if the spirit of the Exodus does not strike, this people has no chance of surviving.

In the case of "Come" such a process is described: the Exodus from Egypt is not only the removal of the yoke of bondage, it is also the process of turning a oppressed slave community into a people.

In addition to the gospel of personal freedom he carried with him that night, the night of the Exodus from Egypt, he also carried with him the gospel of national revival.

It is interesting to follow what is described in this affair in Chapter Twelve in the Pentateuch and try to draw a formula according to it.

First came the commandment "This month you have Rosh Chodesh."

It is not directly related to the redemptive procedure, but it turns out to be a committed precondition that says: First of all, we must create an agenda and discover within ourselves the capacity for renewal, the existence of this engine that will soon be resurrected.

Then - the sacrifice of the Passover sacrifice.

This act had another role in that Passover, the first Passover, of Egypt.

It is meant not only to sacrifice to Gd and to gather together around his eating, but also to express open rebellion against the Egyptian slave.

The flock was sacred and forbidden to eat in Egypt, and the preparation and sacrifice of the sacrifice was intended to produce another stage in the process of liberation from the yoke of Egypt.

Immediately afterwards came another commandment: Eat matzah and celebrate a feast.

That is to say, do not give up the ceremony and the practical, ritualistic expression, if you will halakhic, of these great moments, and all this before you even go out.

And only then - the blow that landed on Egypt, the physical exodus with a great shout, and is - a person feels that he is a people and begins to walk.

Towards the desert, towards the acceptance of the Torah, towards the Promised Land and towards its future as a believing and free people.

But just before the walk something else happens that is mentioned three times in this affair.

And you told your son.

And again - and it was that your son would ask and you said to him.

In more detail, the Torah commands a commandment that sounds quite simplistic: Do not forget to tell children.

You see with your eyes, you experience revelation, you come out of Egypt.

But you will not build this people.

You will all disappear from here in a few years, and those who will have to transfer the intensity of the experience and continue to operate the faith and national engine are the ones who walk around here barefoot and with puzzled eyes ask "what is this"?

Tell them.

Mediate for them the experience.

Inserted it deep into their bones.

When they are your age they will no longer be slaves who unload the burden of bondage and become a people.

They will be freemen who live a communist life in Jericho and Dan, in the Arava and Judea, in the coastal plain and in the Negev.

If the great spirit of the Exodus does not strike them, this people has no chance of surviving.

An integral part of the line of practical commandments surrounding the Exodus from Egypt was this commandment.

tell.

educate.

say.

Ensure that the experience is constitutive at such a level that it is passed down from generation to generation.

Renewal, faith, rebellion and story.

This is our Passover package.

And may we all have a Happy holiday.
