Vladimir Putin has been waging his war of aggression against Ukraine since February 24.

An end to the bloody invasion is not in sight.

Putin has thus burned all bridges to the West, making Russia a pariah state.

A very large majority of Germans are convinced that Germany's relationship with Russia is irreparable as long as Putin continues to rule in the Kremlin.

Around 80 percent consider relations with Putin's empire to be irretrievably damaged.

Only every seventh German does not see it that way.

This is the result of a survey by the opinion research institute Civey for SPIEGEL.

Broken down according to party preferences, the following picture emerges: the clear majority of supporters of most parties sees relations with Putin's Russia as damaged; only the left and the AfD paint a different picture.

A majority of right-wing supporters even disagree.

Evaluated according to East and West Germans, the assessment of the situation is also clear, with approval for the thesis of irreparably damaged relations in the West being even greater.

East German politicians in particular had always shown understanding for Putin and Russia's politics in the past (read a column here).
