The head of Hamas abroad, Khaled Mash'al, claims that the Qatari foreign minister called Hamas leader Haniyeh and informed him that Israel is not interested in escalation.
According to the senior member of the terrorist organization, Haniyeh told the Qatari foreign minister that the sacrifice of a Pesach victim in al-Aqsa (part of the narrative promoted by Hamas), a ban on security forces' invasions of the Jenin refugee camp, and the release of detainees should be banned.
Over the weekend, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh Haniyeh spoke with senior Egyptian intelligence officials and talked to them about the situation in Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa events that took place this morning.
Haniyeh warned of the consequences of "breaking into al-Aqsa and attacking the Palestinian people inside the mosque," and blamed Israel.
This was reported on the official website of Hamas.
In addition, the Hamas website stated that Haniyeh also spoke with the UN envoy to the Middle East, Thor Winsland. Earlier, Winsland called on all parties to act to stop what was happening and said that the UN was in intensive contact to calm the situation, especially in al-Aqsa.
