One person was killed and seven others were injured in an explosion that occurred today on board an oil tanker off the coast of Hong Kong, southeast China.
The Xinhua news agency quoted the local authorities in Hong Kong as saying: An explosion occurred on board the oil and chemical tanker "Chuang Yi" registered in Panama, which has a tonnage of 5,500 tons and was heading to Taiwan, killing one person and wounding seven others, four of whom are in a critical condition.
The authorities indicated that the tanker was 300 kilometers east of Hong Kong when the explosion occurred, the cause of which is not yet clear, adding that the fire was extinguished, while the Chinese aviation department sent a plane and two helicopters with doctors to transport the injured to hospital.
