Pakistan's parliament today elected former Prime Minister Rajah Pervez Ashraf as its new speaker.
The Pakistani National Assembly, "Parliament", said in a statement: Pervez Ashraf was sworn in to become its 22nd president after its members voted to elect him without opposition.
The position of Speaker of the National Assembly has been vacant since the ninth of this April, when its former president, Asad Qaiser, who belongs to the "Instance Movement" submitted his resignation after refusing to hold a vote of no-confidence against the former Prime Minister and leader of his movement, Imran Khan.
