Palestinian prisoners' institutions revealed that the Israeli occupation continues to detain 4,450 prisoners, including 160 children and 32 women.

The institutions (Prisoners Affairs Authority, the Prisoner’s Club, the Addameer Foundation, the Freedom Center and the Wadi Hilweh Jerusalem Center) clarified in a fact sheet that they issued today on the occasion of the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, which falls on the 17th of April of each year and reported by Wafa Agency that from the beginning of this year until the end of March, the occupation arrested More than 2,140 Palestinians, most of them from the occupied cities of Jerusalem and Jenin in the West Bank, pointing out that the arrests reached their climax on the 15th of this month, when the occupation forces carried out massive arrests during their storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, affecting more than 450 Palestinians, including children.

The prisoners' institutions indicated that the number of sick prisoners reached more than 600, including 200 chronic cases and 22 cases of cancer, the most serious of which is the case of the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who is facing a serious health condition due to lung cancer.

The institutions pointed out that the number of prisoner martyrs reached 227 martyrs, with the rise of Sami Al-Amour, as a result of the crime of deliberate medical negligence committed by the occupation forces against the prisoners, pointing out that the occupation continues to hold the bodies of 8 prisoners who were martyred inside its prisons.

The institutions indicated that dozens of prisoners joined this year's list of the deans of prisoners, whose detention has passed for more than 20 years, bringing their number until the end of last March to 152 prisoners.
